Listing Agriculture in Business Directory
Agriculture is the process in which land is toiled or cultivated. It involves the raising of animals and the growing of plants. A lot of English words are derived from Latin. The word Agriculture comes from the Latin word, agricultura, which is a combination of the Latin words ager (meaning Field) and cultura (meaning Cultivation). Grouped together, the Latin words literally mean Tillage of a Field (or fields).
Agriculture is believed to be over 10,000 years old – and as recently as 2007, a third of all global employment is believed to be in this field.
As one can imagine, there’s a vast range of areas that someone may choose to specialise in – from pig farming to cheese making, from herb gardening to cultivating a vineyard for wine production. One can choose to specialise in just one area, or a combination of areas that compliment each other, for example, as a lot of people like having cheese with their wine, maintaining a vineyard and cheese making in the countryside might be a winner.

Believe it or not, livestock production is apparently one of the largest areas responsible for global warming. The United Nations believe that livestock production is responsible for 18% of all global CO2 emissions and over half of nitrous oxide produced. Nitrous oxide gases are believed to be 296 times more warming than CO2. The livestock sector is also said to emit 37% of the world’s methane (23 times more warming than CO2) and 64% of the world’s ammonia. Ammonia transforms to acid rain which generally doesn’t have ecosystems bouncing up and down with joy.
It’s not all doom and gloom though. Farming has always made a significant contribution to our livelihood and will continue to do so. It is possible for some balance to be achieved between toiling the land in an efficient and cost effective way while still reducing the harmful impact it has on the environment. Known as sustainable agriculture or sustainable farming, it is an issue that’s being looked into, discussed and practiced in more earnest as the world’s temperature continues to rise and its effects are felt.
Perhaps in time, all agricultural dryers will be produced with the environment in mind. It’s not wishful thinking. It’s a real possibility. Already some manufacturers are doing that. For example, some dryers claim to dry products in less time which means less energy/fuel is used (or pumped into the environment).
A farmer who’s looking to purchase an agricultural dryer can use a business directory (Branchenbuch) to find companies that supply them. Alternatively, if they have internet access, they could search online. Online business pages (Branchenbuch – tittos.de) is one of the places where they could start their search.
